How long does it take for Smallmouth Bass to grow?

We LOVE Smallmouth Bass and wanted to find a way to give back to the fish we love! Here in Missouri, we have some world call Smallmouth bass fisheries with Table Rock Lake, Bull Shoals, and many more of our hidden creeks and rivers. One thing folks may not realize is how long it actually takes for these fish to reach “Trophy Size” so we created a fun graphic to help anglers visualize this and remember!

How long does it take for Smallmouth Bass to grow?

It normally takes three to five years of growth before smallmouth bass is legally harvestable in states that have a minimum recreational size limit of 12 inches. The oldest reported age for smallmouth bass is 26 years. The heaviest reported weight for smallmouth bass is 5.4 kg (11 lbs., 15 oz.)
